A settlement center was established in this region with the name of Myndos in 640 BC by the Lelegs, one of the oldest civilizations lived in Anatolia. This natural wonder town of Bodrum, which won the title of an archaeological site in 1975, is the point where peace and history can embrace those who are bored with the crowd of Bodrum and desire to embrace nature since tens of years.
The story about the name of the town comes from the sea here taking a silver color at sunset, and that is why the town is named as Gümüşlük after this feature.

Windmills located on the Gumusluk - Bodrum road are currently private properties. These windmills, which date to the end of the 19th century, were used in the grinding process in their time, but now they are only functioning as beautiful elements in the landscape photographs.
